About J. G. Durkin
I’ve always been an avid reader, a collector of words, and a natural-born analyst. I have both a keen eye for detail and the dogged patience required to comb through long documents to find errors and inconsistencies.
I hold a bachelor of Architectural Studies degree from Carleton University and worked for over ten years in the architectural design industry, mainly specializing in lighting design before deciding to turn my love of language into a business. Bright Owl Edits is the result.
I’m a member of the Editorial Freelancers’ Association and have a certificate of satisfactory completion for General Proofreading: Theory and Practice, from Proofread Anywhere.
I live in Ottawa with my husband and two children.
